Concept by PapsLab. Dysart Family Butchers is a fictional business.

What changed
  • A Christmas order docket that works like the paper one on the counter: number of people suggests a turkey, crown or ham size, adds extras, picks a collection day and keeps a running total.
  • Without JavaScript the same page still gives a plain Christmas price list and says phone or call in, so nobody is locked out.
  • Today's opening hours show at the top and update from the real clock (open now, or when we open next); the full week is always on the page.
  • The price list and this week's specials are real text, so they can be read, searched and copied on any phone.
  • The farms the meat comes from are named, with what each one supplies, on a simple map of the Nore valley.
  • One tap to phone the shop, and a plain 'order ahead for collection' rule instead of a form to print.

Where the meat comes from

Four farms, all a short drive from the shop.

We buy from farmers we know by name, mostly in the valley of the River Nore between Kilkenny and Inistioge. They know what we want, and we know whose field it came out of. Ask at the counter and we will tell you which farm your steak came from.

  • Walsh family, KilfaneHereford-cross steers on grass. All of our beef.
  • Cullen’s, StoneyfordPigs for the sausages, rashers and puddings.
  • Maher’s, InistiogeHill lamb, from spring.
  • Kavanagh’s, MullinavatFree-range bronze turkeys, reared for our Christmas orders.

Farm names are invented for this concept. The map is not to scale.

This is what the beef eats until it is ready: grass, in fields you can see from the road.
