Concept by PapsLab. Quinlan's Bar & Kitchen is a fictional business.

What changed
  • A “Tonight at Quinlan’s” board reads the day and time and says if the kitchen is open, when last food orders are, and whether there is a session. Without JavaScript it shows the full week.
  • The menu is real text on the page with prices, so it is searchable, translatable and readable on a phone.
  • Session nights and times are listed day by day, with a note on who can sit in.
  • One tap rings the pub from the top of the page and from a bar fixed to the bottom on phones. Booking stays by phone, as the pub prefers.
  • Light, fast and readable at any size: two small fonts, two photographs, no slider, no social widget.

Tunes, three nights a week

Sessions start when there are enough players and the first set gets going, usually about half nine. Come around nine if you want a seat near the musicians, and if you’re eating first, the kitchen is still open.

It’s a pub with music in it, not a gig. A bit of quiet during a tune is all we ask.

Tuesday
Open session. Bring a fiddle, box, whistle, flute or banjo. Say hello to whoever is leading, sit in, and stick to tunes you know.
Thursday
Our regular players. Reels, jigs, and the odd slow air when the room is quiet enough.
Saturday
The busiest night. Eat early, keep your seat, and the tunes come to you.
The Cascades on the river at Ennistymon in flood: brown, peaty water pouring over wide stone steps in front of an old arched bridge and the houses of the town.
