Concept by PapsLab. Tullan Strand Surf School is a fictional business.

What changed
  • A lesson finder: add who's coming (ages) and ability, and get the lesson, the price for the group, what to bring and the next sessions.
  • Prices are a real table, sorted by who the lesson is for, and the same table is the whole answer when JavaScript is off.
  • Real photos of Tullan Strand on a grey day replace the dead video; the page is small enough to load on one bar of signal.
  • Bad weather has its own section: swap beach, call-off, refund or new date, written the way the school would say it.
  • A booking form that asks for what the school needs, pre-filled from the finder, with the phone number one tap away.
  • Built for a phone first: one column, 44 px tap targets, readable type, no sideways scrolling.

Surf lessons in Bundoran

Never been on a board? Good, most people start there. Small groups, a proper 5mm wetsuit, and an instructor who stays in the water with you. We teach at Tullan Strand or the main beach, whichever is cleaner on the day.

When and where

Lessons run every day, all year, at

  • 10:30am
  • 1:00pm
  • 3:30pm

Kids’ camp runs Monday to Friday, 10am to 1pm, in July and August.

Surf follows the tide, so a start time can move by up to an hour. We text you the evening before with the time, the beach and the spot.

Where we meet

On the beach we’ve picked that morning: Tullan Strand, just north of Bundoran, or the main beach in town. Be there 20 minutes before your start to get into a wetsuit. If we swap beaches, you get a second text before you leave the house.

Directions to Bundoran

Bad weather? Here’s what actually happens.

This is the north Atlantic. Weather is most of the job, so we’ve a plan for it.

Rain, wind and cold
We still go. You’re getting wet anyway, and the wetsuit does the rest. Thunder and lightning is the exception.
The waves are wrong at one beach
We move you to the other one, same time, same instructor. We check both in the morning and text you where to go.
Too big or too messy at both
We call it off by text at least two hours before. You choose a new date or you get your money back, whichever you’d rather.

Changed your mind? Tell us 24 hours before and we’ll move your lesson for free.

What people ask before they book

Do I need to be a strong swimmer?

You need to be comfortable in water that’s up to your chest and happy to get knocked about a bit. You wear a wetsuit and hold a big foam board the whole time. If you’re not sure, book a private lesson and we’ll start in the shallows.

Is it freezing?

It’s the Atlantic, so it’s cold, but a 5mm wetsuit, boots and (in the cold months) a hood and gloves make it manageable. Most people are too busy falling off to notice. Bring something warm for after.

Can I watch my kids from the beach?

Yes. For under 16s in the group lessons a parent or guardian has to stay on the beach. In the family lesson, the grown-ups are in the water with them.

Can I wear glasses or contact lenses?

Contacts are fine. Glasses will end up on the seabed, so if you can, wear contacts or bring a sports strap. Leave watches and jewellery in the car.

What if only some of us are beginners?

Choose the level of the least experienced person. If one of you is well ahead, ring us and we’ll work out a split.

Request your places

Tell us the day and who’s coming. We’ll confirm by text within the day, and you pay on the beach by card or cash.

Prefer to talk? We pick up between 9 and 6, and ring you back if we’re in the water.
