What changed
  • Every room has its price for both seasons in one table, breakfast and VAT included, so nobody has to ask.
  • A date picker shows five bars under each night, one per room, so you see what is free before you write.
  • Pick dates and the page lists the rooms free for those nights with the total, then drafts a request to the owners.
  • Says plainly that booking direct gets the lowest rate, because booking sites take a commission.
  • Breakfast, check-in times, dogs, bike shed and how to get from Westport station or Knock are on the page, not in an email.
  • Works on a phone with one thumb; with JavaScript off it is still a price table plus a phone number.

A family-run B&B just outside Newport, Co. Mayo. Breakfast is in the price, the bikes sleep in a locked shed, and if you book with us you pay the lowest rate we have.

The prices in the table below are the lowest we charge, and booking sites do not get a cheaper one. We would rather the commission stayed in your pocket.

Per room, per night, for one or two people. Full breakfast and VAT are included, and there is nothing to add at the end.

Two nights minimum on weekends in July and August. Travelling on your own? The price is for the room, so it is the same.

Breakfast, 8 to 9.30

It is in the price, every morning. Porridge, the full Irish, or smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Brown bread is baked here most days and the tea is strong.

  • Vegetarian and gluten-free: tell us when you book and we will have it ready.
  • Setting off early for the ferry or a long day on the bike? Say the night before and we will put out something at 7.
  • Packed lunch for the Greenway is €9, ordered the night before.

The Greenway starts at the end of the road

The Great Western Greenway is a traffic-free cycle path along the old railway between Westport and Achill. Newport is on it. Most guests ride one stretch a day and come back to a hot shower and a dry shed.

Bike shed
Locked and covered, with room for a dozen bikes. E-bikes can charge there.
Wet gear
Boots, jackets and panniers dry in the utility room overnight.
Repairs
Pump, puncture kit and a hose for the mud, all by the shed.
Hire
We do not hire bikes. Ring ahead and we will point you to someone who does.

Getting here

By train

Get off at Westport. It is a short drive or taxi from there, and we can collect you by arrangement. Or ride the Greenway up with your bike.

By plane

Knock is the nearest airport. Allow an hour and a bit by car.

By car

We are just outside Newport on the lough side. Parking is on the grounds and free.

Good to know

Check-in
From 3pm to 8pm. Later is fine if you text us.

By 11am. Your bags can stay in the hall for the day.
Dogs
One well-behaved dog is welcome in the Greenway Twin, €10 a night. Please do not leave it alone in the room. Not in the dining room.
Cancelling
Free up to 7 days before you arrive. After that, ring us and we will work something out.
