What’s wrong
  • Prices say "on request", so most people give up or go to a booking site where the rate is public.
  • "Book Now" is a plain email address, with no way to see which nights are free before you write.
  • Five rooms are one wall of identical 11px grey text, and the welcome essay comes before anything useful.
  • The phone number sits in the footer as plain text and a photo carousel hides the actual rooms.
  • Fixed 960px page: on a phone you pinch and scroll sideways to read anything.

Welcome to our website and thank you for visiting. Furnace Lough House is a family run bed and breakfast situated in the beautiful village of Newport in the west of Ireland, in County Mayo, which is known for its stunning scenery, its friendly people and its rich heritage. Whether you are looking for a relaxing break away from the stresses of modern life or an active holiday cycling the Great Western Greenway, we have something for everyone. Newport is a small and picturesque town on the banks of the Newport River at the head of Clew Bay, with the majestic Croagh Patrick on the horizon and Achill Island not far away. We have been welcoming guests from all over the world for many years and we pride ourselves on our warm welcome, comfortable rooms and hearty breakfast. We look forward to meeting you and hope that you will have a very enjoyable stay with us in the west of Ireland.

Our Rooms

Furnace Room: king bed, ensuite shower room, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, window onto the lough. Bay Room: double bed, ensuite shower room, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, view toward Clew Bay. Greenway Twin: two single beds, ensuite shower room, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, ground floor. Garden Family Room: double bed and single bed, ensuite bathroom, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, garden view. Back Room: double bed, private shower room, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer. All rooms have central heating. Full Irish breakfast is included in the price of the room. Rates

Our rates vary throughout the year depending on the season and the room. Rates are available on request, so please contact us by email or phone with your dates and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Please note that rates are subject to change without notice. Breakfast

Breakfast is served between 8 and 9.30. We offer a full Irish breakfast, porridge, and other options. If you have any dietary requirements please let us know in advance. Packed lunches are available.

We are located just outside Newport. For directions please contact us. Newport is on the N59 between Westport and Mulranny. The nearest train station is Westport and the nearest airport is Knock.
